Abstract
In continuous spinning the sulphur is normally eliminated from the viscose rayon without the help of alkaline reagents~ i.e. by washing the single yarn in hot softened water. Other methods of physical desulphurization take the form of treatments with dilute acids, solutions of neutral salts, and alcohols. One method, for example~ consists of desulphurizing the as-spun filaments with sulphuric acid solutions of a concentration of 80 170 g/litre and a minimal content in impurities (elementary sulphur~ salts of heavy metals~ etc.) /1/.
