Abstract

The pure electric quadrupole transition λ = 587.0 nm between the 3P2 and 1S0 levels of the ground configuration of Bi II was observed for the first time and the interferometric study of its hyperfine structure has been performed. A comparison between experimental and theoretical relative intensities of the hfs components of the multipole transitions λ = 485.0 nm, λ = 587.0 nm, and λ = 591.3 nm is made.
