Abstract

The intra-nasal application of various substances which produce sternutatory reflexes has been known for a long time to reduce nasal stuffiness and, indirectly, headaches by the effect on the cranial vessels. Increase in the knowledge of the physiological and pathological states of the autonomic nervous system has emphasized the importance of the nose as a peripheral organ in the system which T. Bryant, of Chicago, calls “Organ periferique du systeme et des filets sympati–ques”.
