Abstract
The PARK2 gene encodes an ubiquitin E3 ligase that is involved in mitochondrial homeostasis and linked to Parkinson's disease. In this issue, Gupta etal. (2017) demonstrate that PARK2 expression is frequently reduced in human cancers and that this alteration leads to dysregulated PI3K signaling.
