Abstract

Introduction: Liver ischemia-reperfusion (IR) injury occurs in transplantation, liver resections, and causes important local and systemic damage. Its pathophysiology involves many signalling pathways and motivates studies that are concerned with using substances to combat this injury. Nutraceuticals (NUT) are bioactive compounds present in foods, which apart from having a nutritional role, provide health-promoting or prevention properties. There is a lack of studies that are concerned in evaluating the effects of NUT on liver IRI.
