Abstract

An accelerated testing procedure was used to determine the effect of average zinc dust particle size on the electrochemical behaviour of a zinc-rich chlorinated rubber primer applied to mild steel. Tests with a painted surface to exposed area ratio of 11.6 to one in flowing aerated 0.5M NaCl solution showed that a particle size of 2.5 μm provided the best protection over the flow range investigated.
