Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to provide some guidelines for the selection of prediction limits for ground-water monitoring applications based on characteristics of the observed data. These characteristics include (1) the degree to which the data deviate from normality, (2) the degree of censoring (i.e., percentage of nondetects), (3) the number of indicator variables and their degree of intercorrelation, as well as a typical combination of the three. In addition, the effect of resampling is also examined in connection with these three factors
