Abstract

Difference of the collisional effects of the finite-sized particles (clouds) between the single-species plasma and the two-species plasma is studied by invoking the Balescu-Lenard kinetic equation and transforming it to a form near the Landau equation. In order to describe velocity-dependent collisional effects on a test cloud, we express them in terms of a quantity which is reduced to the Coulomb logarithm in the case of the usual point-particle plasma, and compare them with those of the electron cloud plasma. The calculation for the cloud with the radius equal to or larger than the Debye length shows the following properties different from those of the electron cloud plasma: (1) the shielding effect of ion on the fluctuating electric field reduces the collisional effect for the test cloud with the velocity smaller than the ion thermal velocity and (2) the emission of the ion sound wave remarkably increases the collisional effect for the test cloud with the ion sound wave velocity in the moderately nonis...
