Abstract

A chirality measure of fuzzy electron density clouds is described, based on a dissimilarity distance defined in terms of a fuzzy set variant of the Hausdorff distance. A proof is presented for the metric properties of this dissimilarity distance that justifies the use of these numerical measures in comparison with the formal degrees of chirality for “almost achiral” and “prominently chiral” electron density clouds.
