Abstract

preliminary study on the same patient population, only comboMD and mid-treatment shrink had been found to be correlated to the time to xerostomia resolution. Therefore in the present paper we assessed the role of each covariate at logistic regression at different time points. Results: Out of 85 potentially eligible patients, 81, 82 and 69 have observations at week 3, 12 and 24 months, respectively. The rate of xerostomia at each time point is 59.3%, 58.5% and 24.6% at 3 week, 12 months and 24 months, respectively. At mid treatment median treatment shrink was 19.6% (range: 1.2-52.1%, upper quartile-UpQ: 26.2%). Results are reported in the table. Conclusions: There is a correlation between shrinkage and xerostomia at mid-treatment. Patients whose parotids significantly shrink during IMRT are less likely to be long-term supplemental fluids dependent.
