Abstract

Introduction: Mid-portion Achilles tendinopathy (AT) is a common source of posterior ankle pain in both athletic and sedentary populations. The outcomes following a loading program have been investigated in many trials with the consensus being that loading programs are an effective treatment. However, there is little clarity on the extent of improvement in pain and function. This makes it difficult for clinicians to present the expectations of rehabilitation to patients. The objective of this systematic review was to determine the extent of change in pain and function over time in patients while completing a loading protocol for mid-portion AT.
