Abstract
The OH( v=0 and 1) product rotational- and fine-structure-state distributions from the reaction O( 3P)+GeH 4 have been determined by laser-induced fluorescence in a pulse-probe experiment. There is strong vibrational population inversion P( v=1)/ P( v=0)=4.2±2.4. The rotational-state distributions extend to high rotational levels and are non-thermal with non-statistical lambda-doublet state populations suggesting that OH is formed in these vibrational levels by an addition mechanism rather than by direct H atom abstraction.
