Abstract

Self-supporting targets of 92,98Mo, with thicknesses of 100 and 200 μg/cm 2, were prepared by electron beam gun evaporation. Substrate heating proved crucial for the production of these foils. The numerous parting agents explored will be discussed. Targets of 92,98Mo were also prepared on carbon backings of various thicknesses. Problems encountered in the production of 100–200 μg/cm 2 thick self-supporting and carbon-backed Mo targets for reactions with heavy ions are discussed.
