Abstract

This study investigated the role of the product owner in Agile Scrum projects. Interviews with 18 professionals from four companies were analyzed to identify common tasks and responsibilities associated with the role. The findings highlight the product owner’s as a key communicator, prioritizer, and engaged team member, instrumental for effective collaboration between the Scrum team and stakeholders. However, challenges such as overview and planning, communication, and role clarity were also identified. The study emphasizes the need for thorough training, clear role descriptions, and improved communication within Scrum teams to address these challenges.
