Abstract
We examine the subrings of the Minkowski ring which are generated by finitely many polytopes. Such a ring is the homomorphic image of the ring of polynomials in a finite number of variables with coefficients in Z . We relate the prime ideal structure of this ring to the rational relations on the vertices of the polytopes.
