Abstract

State occupational licensing laws have restricted advertising of prices for certain goods and services. Litigation is removing these restraints. Price surveys, including one for prescription eyeglasses that is presented in this paper, provide a benchmark for comparisons of price variation under conditions with and without advertising restraints.
