Abstract

Colombia is one of the oldest democracies on the continent. After one of the harshest periods of the war, a peace has been reached that has left the crimes committed in impunity. All the heinous crimes committed in all these years have been replaced by an illogical “peace” that ignores its victims and, even more ironically, has managed to condemn the institutions that sought at all costs to protect law, order and the Colombian people. A reflection of this is the recent report delivered by the Commission for the Clarification of the Truth. Today the future is more uncertain than ever since disagreement and dissatisfaction are palpable throughout the country.
