Abstract

ABSTRACT The UN Human Rights Council has reviewed the human rights conditions of Ethiopia three times. In all cycles of review, Ethiopia has received many recommendations in relation to gender-based violence and harmful traditional practices. Accordingly, Ethiopia has accepted most of the recommendations and been implementing the accepted recommendations on gender-based violence. The purpose of this article is therefore to review the measures taken to implement accepted recommendations on gender-based violence. It also aims at exploring the successes and challenges of implementation of the recommendations.
