Abstract
The Republic of Croatia has undergone many transformations in the last twenty years, becoming a democratic state. The functioning of the independent Republic of Croatia can be divided into two periods. The first is the stage of formation and consolidation of statehood, the second occurred after the death of F. Tudjman when the process of democratization and construction of a social market economy took place and the Constitution was amended with a view to replacing the semi-presidential system with a parliamentary-cabinet system. The subject of the analysis is the institution of the president in the system of state organs of the Republic of Croatia, with particular emphasis on his powers and functions in relation to the various organs of government.
