Abstract

Recent developments in explosion theory are reviewed. The unification of the isothermal chain and thermal theories is discussed as is the effect of photochemically significant radiation on explosion limits. The effect of fuel consumption on thermal explosions and the definition of critical conditions is examined. Recent contributions to the effects of vessel shape are examined. Finally the relationship between thermal explosion criteria and flame theory and detonability limits is pointed out.
