Abstract
This review article deals in a simple manner with the present state of development of nuclear fusion power plants. After a general introduction the following points are considered: • Basic physics of thermonuclear fusion devices • Thermonuclear plasma confinement configurations • Technical aspects of fusion reactors • Further aspects of thermonuclear power plant operation In conlusion, the present state on the way towards the first feasibility demonstration of power generation by nuclear fusion is discussed.
