Abstract

The presence of viral-induced polypeptides in nuclei isolated from polio-infected HeLa cells is reported. Gel electrophoresis resolved these proteins into one major band, mol wt 75,000 (P75), and two minor proteins, mol wt 66,000 (P66) and 45,000 (P45). After a chase experiment, the loss of label from high-molecular-weight P75 was quantitatively recovered in P66 and P45. P75 appears in nuclei at the onset of inhibition of host RNA synthesis.
