Abstract

Background and Aim: Patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) can have an increased risk of developing cardiovascular diseases, even in the absence of conventional risk factors. We compared the Carotid Intima-Media Thickness(CIMT), a surrogate marker for atherosclerosis, of subjects with and without IBD to study the cardiovascular risk. We also looked at whether NAFLD is an important factor affecting CIMT in IBD.
