Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe serologic, arthroscopic, and histopathologic findings suggestive of immune-mediated synovial membrane disease and assess for distinctions between pathologic findings in low and high inflammatory conditions of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Arthroscopic findings have been investigated previously, with arthroscopic-visualization of petechiae synovitis and the histologic-presence of plasma cells indicating high inflammatory immune-based synovial membrane disease (Hakim et al 2020).
