Abstract

Purpose of Study: Increased presence of calcitonin gene–related peptide (CGRP) has been observed in patients with chronic tennis elbow. CGRP mediates pain within the dorsal horn of the spinal cord. The purpose of this study was 1) to examine for CGRP in forelimb flexor tendons of rats that performed a high repetition–high force (HRHF) or low repetition–low force (LRLF) reaching and grasping task and 2) to compare CGRP response to the immunoreactivity (IR) of Substance P and N-methyl-d-aspartate receptor 1 (NMDAr1) observed in this model.
