Abstract

Rhenium single crystals have been prepared by electron beam float zone melting with resistance ratios (R273°K/R4.2°K) exceeding 30,000. In one crystal a ratio in excess of 55,000 was obtained. It appears that purification occurs both by selective vaporization and zone refining.
