Abstract

In this paper, different sizes of glutathione-capped CdTe (GSH/CdTe) quantum dots (QDs) have been prepared directly in aqueous solution. The QDs have tunable fluorescence in the range of 510–670nm, and they also have high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) without any postpreparative treatment. Furthermore, the QDs have strong resistance to photobleaching, and they also have to be considered as cytocompatible. In addition, for the first time, folic acid was covalently conjugated to the GSH/CdTe QDs for imaging of cancer cells, demonstrating their potentially broad application as biolabels.
