Abstract

When becoming involved in the production of artwork for book publications the medical artist must interact and work with publishers through whom authors' instructions are conveyed. Procedures and job titles vary from one publisher to the other and misunderstandings can lead to costly mistakes. From a typical publishing situation a common approach to medical artwork preparation for book publication is described that will prepare the medical artist to work in close cooperation with the publishing team.
