Abstract

Objective to use medical-ozone in the treatment of liver-stagnation and spleen-deficiency Irritable Bowel Syndrome and to investigate new therapy for D-IBS. Method 65 patients were included and were randomly assigned to two groups respectively: the combination group and medical-ozone group. Patients in the combination group underwent the Chinese and Westen medicine treatment (Dicetel + modified decoction of Tong Xie Yao Fang ). Patients in the medical-ozone group underwent the same treatment with the addition of medical-ozone rectal perfusion. (Dicetel + modified decoction of Tong Xie Yao Fang + medical-ozone rectal perfusion). After consecutive observation for 4 weeks, the total improvement rate was assessed according to the SCL-90 Measuring Scale and Main Symptoms Grade Tables between pre and post treatment. Compared the statistic difference of two groups, we evaluated the therapeutic efficacy of medical-ozone in treating IBS. Results In combination group, the total effective rate of Chinese medicine syndrome was 86.67% while in medical-ozone group it was 93.33% with highly significant statistic difference. (P<0. 05). Conclusion It was proved that the medical-ozone rectal perfusion had therapeutic effects on liver-stagnation and spleen-deficiency IBS. This treatment can be widely used and the mechanism should be further elucidated in the future. Key words: Irritable bowel syndrome ; Dicetel; Medical-ozone rectal perfusion
