Abstract

A model is proposed for the prediction of diastereoselectivity in reactions of prochiral carbanions with prochiral carbonyl compounds, the method involving an analysis of steric interactions in the transition state, assuming an approach angle of at least 109°; the model is applicable to a variety of reactions in which chelation control is absent.
