L'A analyse ici les travaux de la commission d'enquete sur la liberte (AFIC), de la Boston Emancipation League. Cette commission s'est penchee sur les questions de citoyennete mais egalement sur la distinction de la notion de race et les possibilites economiques et de controle social de l'abolition de l'esclavage
