Abstract

The ATLAS Muon Spectrometer will use drift tubes for the precise measurement of muon tracks in the toroidal magnetic field. The physics goals require a precision on the sagitta measurement of 50μm. The planned operating conditions are discussed, including signal conditioning and the choice of gas for the high rate LHC environment.
