Abstract

Given the expansion of communication in the international educational space, there is a steady demand for good knowledge of foreign languages by modern specialists. In this regard, the list of qualifying professional characteristics of a university graduate necessarily includes his ability to communicate in an information environment where language and communicative competencies are required, as well as knowledge of the socio-cultural realities of the country of the studied language. These and other aspects require innovative approaches to teaching a foreign language, related, in particular, to solving problems of developing foreign language speech activity of university students. In this regard, the article investigated the current problems of digital communication in teaching a foreign language and related aspects such as: The possibilities of using mobile devices and Internet communication channels in teaching English; Increasing student activity in learning a foreign language; The influence of mobile devices and Internet communication channels on the formation of language competencies of university students; The advantages of digital communication in teaching a foreign language; The pedagogical potential of using mobile devices and Internet communication channels with the activation of foreign language speech activities of university students. The results of the experimental work showed the validity of the use of mobile devices and Internet communication channels in the organization of the educational process.
