Abstract

Since the publication of a paper on The Use of Copper Sulphate in the Purification of Swimming Pools in theJournal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry,3and the editorial comment inThe Journal,4I have received many inquiries from physicians who are interested in the practical side of this subject. As the first paper was primarily an attempt to show, by scientific reasoning and fact, the advantages of copper sulphate as a disinfectant in pools, no attempt was made to describe the actual method of using it, that is, the method of charging the water, the amount of disinfectant to use, frequency of application, and practical workings of the system. In this paper an attempt will be made to give minute directions for the use of copper sulphate by a person in charge of a pool. Of course it must be understood that no means of purification is
