Abstract

High alumina brick are for the most part performing adequately and economically in electric furnace roofs. However, as furnaces are pushed beyond their rated capacity, and electrical imbalance continues to be a problem, improved roof refractories will be required. Recent experience indicates that the use of direct-bonded brick can provide an economical approach to the solution of electric furnace roof problems.
