Abstract

Summary Based in bodily awareness, somatic education has many points of relationship with dance education. Body-Mind Centering® (BMC), with some of its roots in Laban Movement Analysis/Bartenieff Fundamentals (LMA/BF), has a particularly easy link to dance. When studying Body-Mind Centering, the theoretical components are often taught through dance improvisation and visualization with applications frequently made to movement and dance. Dancers benefit from the precision and embodied practice of its experiential anatomy. Dance educators can strengthen their organization of dance classes using the neuro-developmental foundations of Body-Mind Centering.
