Abstract

This paper describes a study into the potential of a new connection technique for use in coldformed steel structures. The technique, called press-joining, has many advantages over current methods. A series of small scale tests was carried out to investigate the performance in shear and bending. Comparative tests were also carried out with rivets and self tapping screws. Four full scale structural tests were carried out on pitched roof trusses using cold-formed steel channel sections.
