Abstract

This chapter provides a short review of matters of importance in the development of clinical supervision over the preceding decade. Arguments are made that support from policy-makers and professional bodies is important in moving forward with clinical supervision and that the demand to link all professional developments to positive patient outcome is both necessary and probably impossible. Safe and accountable practice is vitally important, and clinical supervision is providing support to both safety and accountability.
