Abstract

The objective of this study was to assess the potentialfor growth of non-agricultural rural activities in northwestPoland. The analysis was performed within a linear regressionframework. The results demonstrated that non-agriculturalactivities were determined by entrepreneurship, infrastructureand small size of farms. The estimated potential of nonagriculturalactivities was highest in Zachodniopomorskievoivodeship, moderate in Wielkopolskie voivodeship, andlowest in Lubuskie voivodeship. The results also suggest thatin order to fully tap into the potential of non-agricultural activities, some institutional support needs to be provided by thelocal government
