Abstract

Objectives: This research article aims to analyze the factors which are necessary to establish a riverside retail market in the communities in terms of potential and opportunities. The study has conduct in the community along Lat Phrao Canal of Bangkok Thailand. Finding will make an aware of the factors affecting the establishment of a community market which bring sustainability to the member of the community because this is beneficial in creating the potential to attract people to shop and travel while reflecting the identity and generating income for the community.
 
 Methods: The research tools include an interview form with a sample group representing 5 areas, 8 samples per area, using content analysis and a survey with a sample group of 400 consumers using descriptive statistical analysis. Then the qualitative and quantitative data were analyzed with SWOT analysis.
 
 Results: The research results found that factors that should be present in establishing a market with potential and having the opportunity to attract customers consist of 11 factors including a savory shop, sweet shop, fruit shop, beverage shop, consumer goods shop transportation services, procedures and tour services, entertainment and performing arts services, travel and activity services, facilities and location.
