Abstract

What may the clinician accept as a normal blood picture in the patient who has had a splenectomy? An adequate answer to this question in so far as the immediate postoperative period is concerned has been supplied previously. In an attempt to provide a yardstick by which the late postsplenectomy state may be evaluated and thus to furnish an answer to the question regarding the late postsplenectomy state, the blood picture of 105 patients was reviewed after splenectomy.
