Abstract

This article seeks to examine the effect the extraordinary popularity of the cross genre docu-soap in the UK in the latter half of the 1990s has had on a new generation of student film-makers. It questions whether over-exposure to this sub-genre of film making has modified a whole new generation's understanding, or lack of understanding, of the documentary medium.
