Abstract

This small book is a review from a surgical viewpoint of the several syndromes and their pertinent physiology arising after gastrectomy. The author and the publisher pleasantly assemble this material in more detail than is present in either the textbooks or the literature. The discussion of the early postprandial dumping syndrome, the late postprandial dumping syndrome, and the afferent loop syndrome is well done. Overall I was troubled in knowing for whom the book was intended. The review is insufficiently exhaustive or critical to serve as a reference source and much longer than several good reviews on the subject inSurgical Clinics of North Americato compete with their conciseness.
