Abstract

Abstract The paper is a continuation of the work presented during the 26th International Conference of Safety in Mines Research Institutes. It deals with the usability of solar panels as detectors of methane and coal dust flames. The results presented show that the presence of coal dust in a methane-air flame significantly changes its radiation characteristics, thus making possible the use of the solar detector in triggered barrier systems. The results were obtained and confirmed both in small and large scale experiments.
