Abstract
The algorithm of calculating the scattering amplitude for an inclusion in a homogeneous medium is described. The algorithm is based on the ability of the scattering amplitude to satisfy the homogeneous Helmholtz equation in the variables coinciding with the coordinates of the inclusion. The solution to the problem is represented as a series expansion in inverse powers of the source-inclusion distance. The expression for the scattering amplitude of a multipole point source is derived. Examples of calculating the scattering amplitude by the proposed method are presented.
