Abstract

This manuscript explores Howard's concept of paradexity: a convergence of paradox and complexity. Emerging paradigms of paradexity are explored including the emotional economy, sense making, time expansion, and communities of interest. Parse's theory of humanbecoming is presented as a theoretical basis to guide nursing in transcending the challenges of paradexity and cocreating a futuristic role for nursing.
