Abstract

Abstract In the conditions of increasing competition in the freight distribution market small and medium-sized enterprises have each time less chances to maintain a competitive position. Their development potential decreases together with increasing costs related with providing a services and the increasingly complex needs of customers. Enterprises strive to maintain their competitive position in an increasingly wider range using IT solutions in planning, organization and delivering. However, due to financial limitations occurring in small and medium-sized transport enterprises, the use of telematics solutions is still very limited in West ‘Pomeranian region. The article discusses using IT platforms for urban freight distribution to improve transport SMEs from West Pomerania and presents the results of own research on the use of these solutions by companies. The possibilities arising from the using selected solutions and the critical points connected with have been articulated.
