Abstract

The problem-oriented medical record system can improve the quality of health care in the ambulatory pediatric setting. It promotes communication and collaboration among health team members and stimulates continuing education of the individuals involved in offering care. The pediatric nurse practitioner, as a primary care agent, can institute this service, even where the traditional “source-oriented” system has previously been used.
