Abstract

Aim: This study aims at analyzing the discourses about India in the tourism brochures published in the UK. This study aims to focus on both the content and context of the portals of the tourist brochures.Methodology: This research adopts a qualitative methodology guided by an interpretive paradigm. The data collection adopted purposive sampling techniques. The data were analysed using discourse analysis techniques.Findings: This study provides an outlook on the touristic representation of India in the British travel brochures. This examination provides an understanding of the dissonance between the projections based on the country’s current geopolitical power and economic growth.Novelty/Implications: While this research element the recognition of India as one of the prominent nations in the contemporary world, it also provides evidence for the unceasing denigration of India as a stagnant, oriental, and ancient place, with a trace of colonialism.
