Abstract

The historical politics is analyzed as a policy of memory, aimed at maintaining the memorial canon as a factor in the development of identity in modern Québec, as well as its features and contradictions. The main features of historical politics, the development of memorial culture practices, the potential for historical manipulations in the context of the transformation of regional identity in Québec, and the practices used in the politics of memory that contribute to the ideologization of history are also studied. It is shown that the policy of memory is institutionally uncertain, and its implementation is carried out through the revision of history and the formation of a new memorial canon.
